| Literally a cultural phenomenon, the story of eBay intrigues us all. Entrepreneurs worldwide sit in wonderment of how something as intangible as a mere web site can generate the activity and revenue as does this dot com entity. These are the ebay success stories of two people (Pierre Omidyar & Meg Whitman) who, when they joined forces, wrote the ultimate success story for countless thousands everywhere. | It wasn't until my wife actually wanted to sell an item on eBay did I ever see the site on our computer. I knew about eBay, well sort of anyway, just like millions of other people. However, it wasn't until I started this project that I REALLY learned about this phenomenal enterprise. That's what I want to share with you right now is how eBay truly is "The Ultimate Success Story"! My wife, eBay code-name MrsWebAuthor, sold her first item in mid December of 2001. She banged around here and there buying and selling, watching and learning - doing whatever it took to learn HOW to be a proficient eBayer. I didn't really comprehend what was happening until I asked her one day if she wanted me to start taking some of her ebay packages to the Post Office. Then, and not until then, did I finally realize what was going on! To make a long story short, within less than a year we're selling all the furniture out of our den and replacing it with shelves, buying business cards and mailing labels, building a storage building in our back yard, hauling product to the post office on a daily basis, and watching Mama as she walks into PowerSeller status with eBay. A whole lot to transpire within only a year! Then, after watching a segment on 'CBS News 60 Minutes', here I am putting together this little portfolio. |

| The '60 Minutes' episode, which aired on October 30th, 2002, opened my eyes about the reality of eBay. Before I viewed that show, I just kind of thought it was a part-time hobby for my wife. But my attitude has since changed BIG TIME! I immediately went online to find out everything I could about HOW this website came to be what it is today. What you're about to view is a small compilation of my research. I don't have to tell the story because it's already been told numerous times by countless authors. Much of what's already been written and published on the Web no longer exists. Many of the links I clicked on only provided me the "This page cannot be found" screen. In order to preserve the articles that do still exist, I've cut/pasted the text out of the articles and archived them here on our server (please read our Copyright Disclaimer). I'm providing links to the original articles on each page; however, if and when those pages get deleted (as so many already have), I'll then have to remove the links, obviously. The republished versions will remain in our archive for as long as we maintain this site. Our website is clean, without advertisements, and supported totally by us.
